In the public area with windows on one side, the semi-open layout welcomes an abundance of natural light and allows it to penetrate all the way through the space. The abode features a contemporary design style that embraces simplicity and purity. The house exudes a cozy, soothing feeling from warm wood accents, hand-applied paint, and a fascinating exposition of the reality and illusion created with mirror surfaces.
Due to the limitation of the foundation, the entryway is relatively narrow. However, the reflective gray mirror on the wall doubles the visual depth. On the other side of the wall, a shoe chair, shoe cabinet, and hanging area are integrated to make a simple yet functional entryway.
The wood flooring leads the way to the living room. Under the main beam, wood veneers in different shades add layers of detail to the cabinet, softening the rigidity and harshness of the volume. Gray paint creates a statement TV wall. Its hand-troweled textures convey a sense of simplicity and stability. Transparent glass is mounted on the wall behind the sofa, not only extending the view beyond the frame, but also linking the living room and study room.
The half-height bar table divides the living room and dining room. It not only serves as a preparation table but also encourages interaction among family members. The hanging iron shelf adds vertical storage and also showcases a collection of wine. The color continues throughout the main wall to the dining room. Meanwhile, the bar table features stunning stone patterns. The natural irregular patterns impart a sense of natural beauty, making the dining environment cozy and comfortable.
A serene ocean blue gives the bedroom a sense of stability and calm. Without flashy and opulent decorations, the tranquil bedroom adorned with warm wood accents exudes simplicity and rusticity. In essence, it’s all about designing with empathy and a profound understanding of human needs
